If you are hit by a Phantom, you’ll be sent back to the beginning of the floor and lose a bit of health. They patrol the halls of the tower, and if they see you they’ll come to attack you. Your enemies are living armored suits known as Phantoms, and they are virtually indestructible. The Tower of Spirits is actually a pretty cool dungeon. After all, if I can’t remember what made it so good or so bad, was it really all that good/bad?)ġ0th Worst Dungeon: The Tower of Spirits (Spirit Tracks) To be a best/worst dungeon, it not only has to have been enjoyable/shitty while I was playing it, but I have to be able to remember exactly why I liked/hated it. (Please note, these are all my own personal opinion. And because of that, I’m going to pay tribute to the Top Ten Best AND Worst Legend of Zelda Dungeons. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s entirely possible for a dungeon to stand out for all the wrong reasons.

And the fact that there are so many dungeons that manage to stand out, despite having the exact same formula, is a testament to the skill of the designers of these dungeons. There are very, very few dungeons that deviate from this formula. Use keys to unlock doors, collect the Map and the Compass, find the Big Treasure Chest, use the item from that chest to navigate the rest of the dungeon, find the big key, get to the boss chamber, use the item from the Big Chest to fight the boss. Most dungeons follow the same formula: go into the dungeon, explore each room as you come to it, either kill all the enemies or solve all the puzzles (or both), take any treasures that might appear, move on to the next room. Sure, there’s plenty of stuff to do outside the dungeons, particularly in more recent entries in the series, but the vast majority of the action in almost any Zelda game takes place in its dungeons.

And to begin with, I’m going to discuss one of the most important aspects of any Zelda game: the dungeons.įor those who don’t know, The Legend of Zelda is, at its heart, a series of dungeon crawling adventures.
